About the Callaway Mavrik Max
The Mavrik Max is the most forgiving member of the 2020 Mavrik family, using a larger head and a deeper centre of gravity than the standard Mavrik to raise launch and widen the effective hitting area. Counterintuitively for the more forgiving model, its lofts are three degrees weaker than the standard Mavrik through most of the set, a 30 degree 7-iron against 27, because the standard Mavrik was the distance-oriented set in the range. Lengths also run slightly longer in the mid irons. Specs below are the standard men's steel-shaft numbers.
Stock shafts
- KBS Max — steel
- Project X Catalyst 55/65/75 — graphite

Frequently asked questions
What is the loft of a Callaway Mavrik Max 7-iron?
The Callaway Mavrik Max 7-iron has a loft of 30 degrees, with a 62.5 degree lie and a 37.125 inch standard steel length.
What is the loft of a Callaway Mavrik Max pitching wedge?
The Mavrik Max pitching wedge is 43 degrees, with a 48 degree A-wedge and a 54 degree sand wedge.
Why are the Mavrik Max lofts weaker than the standard Mavrik?
Because the standard Mavrik was the distance model in the family. The Max was built for launch and forgiveness with a larger head and deeper centre of gravity, so it uses more conventional lofts: a 30 degree 7-iron against 27, and a 43 degree pitching wedge against 41.
Which Mavrik iron is the most forgiving?
The Mavrik Max. It uses the largest head and the deepest centre of gravity in the 2020 Mavrik range, which is why it sits in the super game improvement category.
Finding a used set
The Callaway Mavrik Max ran from 2020 to 2022 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search the used listings on eBay, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.
- Callaway Golf Pre-Owned Mavrik Max product specs (callawaygolfpreowned.com/iron-sets/irons-2020-mavrik-max.html) — loft, lie, length and swingweight
- 2nd Swing Golf Callaway Mavrik Max iron set spec table (2ndswing.com/golf-clubs/iron-sets/callaway-mavrik-max-iron-set) — independently matches on every loft, lie and length; the 5-iron lie is listed as 61.25 degrees against Callaway's 61.3, which is the same value rounded differently
- Today's Golfer, 'Callaway Mavrik irons' (January 2020) — confirms the 30 degree 7-iron loft and the Project X Catalyst graphite shaft
- The steel shaft is recorded as KBS Max without a gram weight because sources give conflicting figures and none could be confirmed.
- Offset ladder added from the Callaway Demandware ProductSpecs feed (ProductSpecs-Get), the manufacturer-authored source behind the View Specs panel; Callaway publishes these in millimetres and the inch figures here are converted
- Status check, 29 September 2026: year_discontinued is 2022. The Rogue ST line was unveiled in January 2022, with the Rogue ST Max OS replacing the Mavrik Max (mygolfspy.com).
