What is a loft chart?
A loft chart lists the factory loft of every club in a set, usually alongside lie angle, club length, offset and swing weight. It is the reference you need when you are gapping a bag, replacing a single lost iron, buying a used set, or working out why a new 7-iron flies further than the one it replaced.
Lofts have moved considerably over time. A 1980s game-improvement 7-iron sat around 36°; a modern distance iron of the same number can be 28–30°. That is why comparing sets by club number alone is misleading, and why every chart here records the year the set was introduced.
