About the Ping S259
The s259 is Ping's 2026 tour wedge line, built on the s159 platform and announced in mid-January 2026 with custom fitting from 13 January. The cast 8620 head carries a larger reshaped elastomer insert behind the face, and the grooves change by loft — tighter-spaced MicroMax grooves from 54 to 62 degrees, milled full-shot grooves from 46 to 52. The matrix runs 25 loft/bounce/grind combinations from 46 to 62 degrees across the six s159-era grinds (S, H, W, T, B, E), with the W grind newly extended down to 50 and 52 degrees. Ping stamps the bounce into each model name, so a 58 T-6 is the 58-degree T grind at 6 degrees of effective bounce. Bounce figures here are Ping's published effective bounce.
Grind options
The sole grinds this model is sold in, with the lofts each one is available at.
- S Grind46°, 48°, 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- The mid-to-higher-bounce all-rounder, offered at every loft. Square-face full shots plus heel and trailing-edge relief for greenside creativity; blends into the back of an iron set.
- H Grind54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- Based on a Ping Wrx half-moon tour grind. Versatility in softer conditions and for steeper swings or players who manipulate the handle.
- W Grind50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- Maximum forgiveness through the turf — high bounce for soft turf and sand, steep attack angles and shaft lean. New for s259, it extends down to 50 and 52 degrees.
- T Grind58°, 60°, 62°
- The lowest effective bounce in the line at 6 degrees, with steeper trailing-edge relief so the face sits lower when opened. For open-face shots from tight lies.
- B Grind58°, 60°
- Low bounce for shallow attack angles and square setups, with a wider sole for forgiveness in firm conditions.
- E Grind58°, 60°
- Eye2-inspired sole with mid-sole dishing for soft shots from tight turf and wider back-edge bounce for bunkers and open-face shots, reshaped for a more traditional look at address.

Frequently asked questions
What lofts does the Ping s259 come in?
The s259 is sold from 46 to 62 degrees in 2-degree steps — 25 loft, bounce and grind combinations.
What grinds does the Ping s259 offer?
Six, carried over from the s159: S (every loft, 46-60), W (50-60, newly extended to 50 and 52 degrees), H (54-60), and the lob-wedge trio of T (58-62), B (58-60) and the Eye2-inspired E (58-60).
What do the numbers in Ping s259 model names mean?
Ping stamps the effective bounce into the name — an s259 58 T-6 is the 58-degree T grind with 6 degrees of effective bounce. The bounce column in the chart uses those published figures.
What bounce options does the s259 have at 58 and 60 degrees?
Six at each loft: 6 degrees (T grind), 8 degrees in three different soles (B, E and H grinds), 10 degrees (S) and 14 degrees (W).
Where it sits in the lineup
Introduced in 2026, the Ping S259 is a current tour wedge in the Ping range as of October 2026, with no replacement announced. It replaced the Ping s159. New wedges are built to the loft, bounce and grind options in the chart above; a fitting can bend loft and lie from standard, so confirm the numbers on the order sheet. Check the loft and bounce against the chart above before buying used — wedges are routinely bent from standard, and worn grooves cost spin long before a wedge looks worn.
