About the Callaway Opus SP
The Opus SP is the 2025 generation of Callaway's Opus wedge line, announced in early August 2025 with US retail from 12 September. The SP stands for Spin Pocket — a hollow cavity under the lower face, carried in the 54 to 60 degree heads, that raises the centre of gravity for a lower, spinnier flight — paired with a forged 1025 face plate on a cast 8620 body and the Spin Gen 2.0 face with 17-degree groove angle and tighter pitch. The matrix runs 24 loft/bounce/grind combinations from 48 to 64 degrees across five grinds, including the X grind returned from the Jaws Raw era. The Opus SP+ joined the line in 2026 as a high-loft extension rather than a replacement. Club lengths are omitted here because published retailer charts disagree on the measuring basis.
Grind options
The sole grinds this model is sold in, with the lofts each one is available at.
- T Grind58°, 60°, 62°, 64°
- Tour-inspired for precise shotmaking — the lowest bounce in the line at 5 to 6 degrees, for skilled players, firm turf and shallow attack angles. The only grind at 62 and 64 degrees.
- C Grind56°, 58°, 60°
- Low-to-mid bounce at 8 degrees with heel and toe relief for maximum short-game versatility and shotmaking.
- S Grind48°, 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- The standard mid-bounce full-swing grind at 10 degrees, offered at every loft from 48 to 60 — for square-face players and a wide variety of swings.
- W Grind50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- Ultra-wide sole with the highest bounce in the line at 12 to 14 degrees — maximum forgiveness for steep swings and soft conditions.
- X Grind54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- A very narrow sole with extreme heel, toe and trailing-edge relief at 12 degrees of bounce — versatility with bounce for steeper swingers in soft conditions, returned from the 2022 Jaws Raw.

Frequently asked questions
What lofts does the Callaway Opus SP come in?
The Opus SP is sold from 48 to 64 degrees — 24 loft, bounce and grind combinations, with the 62 and 64 degree heads offered only in the low-bounce T grind.
What grinds does the Callaway Opus SP offer?
Five: T (5-6 degrees of bounce, 58-64), C (8 degrees, 56-60), S (10 degrees, every loft 48-60), X (12 degrees, 54-60) and W (12-14 degrees, 50-60).
What does SP stand for in Callaway Opus SP?
Spin Pocket — a hollow cavity under the lower face of the 54 to 60 degree heads that raises the centre of gravity for a lower, more spinning flight.
Did the Opus SP+ replace the Opus SP?
No. Callaway positions the 2026 Opus SP+ as an extension of the line — a tungsten-weighted specialist at 54 to 60 degrees — and the Opus SP remains in the current catalogue alongside it.
Where it sits in the lineup
Introduced in 2025, the Callaway Opus SP is a current tour wedge in the Callaway range as of October 2026, with no replacement announced. It replaced the Callaway Opus. New wedges are built to the loft, bounce and grind options in the chart above; a fitting can bend loft and lie from standard, so confirm the numbers on the order sheet. Check the loft and bounce against the chart above before buying used — wedges are routinely bent from standard, and worn grooves cost spin long before a wedge looks worn.
