About the Callaway Opus

The Opus is the 2024 start of Callaway's current wedge family, replacing the JAWS Raw at retail from September 2024 and still in the catalogue below the 2025 Opus SP. Spin Gen Face Technology replaced the JAWS groove package: more, tighter-spaced grooves, angled micro-grooves that channel moisture off an open face, and a quartz face blast for wet-condition friction. The line runs 17 loft/bounce/grind combinations from 48 to 60 degrees across four grinds, in Brushed Chrome and Black Shadow finishes. The tungsten-toplined Opus Platinum is a separate model and is not included in this chart.

Grind options

The sole grinds this model is sold in, with the lofts each one is available at.

S Grind48°, 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
The core sole, offered at every loft — mid bounce with enough heel relief to stay versatile, suiting most players and conditions.
W Grind50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
The widest sole in the line with the highest bounce, for steep attack angles, soft conditions and sand.
T Grind58°, 60°
Low-bounce shot-maker's sole with aggressive heel and toe relief that sits snug to the ground with the face straight, open or closed — for shallow attack angles and firm turf.
C Grind58°, 60°
Mid-low bounce with heel-toe relief — more forgiving than the T and more versatile than the S around the greens.

Frequently asked questions

What lofts does the Callaway Opus come in?

48 to 60 degrees — 17 loft, bounce and grind combinations across the S, W, T and C grinds.

What grinds does the Callaway Opus offer?

Four: the all-round S at every loft, the wide high-bounce W (50-60), and the low-bounce T (6 degrees) and C (8 degrees) at 58 and 60.

What is the difference between the Opus and the Opus Platinum?

The Platinum adds a 17-gram tungsten topline weight that raises the centre of gravity for a lower, spinnier flight, comes in Blue Platinum, and offers only S and Z grinds at 54-60 degrees. It is a separate model from this chart.

Is the Callaway Opus still sold?

Yes — as of October 2026 it remains in Callaway's range below the Opus SP, which took over the top slot in 2025.

Buying one

Callaway has since introduced the Callaway Opus SP above it in the range, so the Opus is at the end of its retail life rather than fully retired — closeout stock still turns up at retailers, and it is well represented in the used listings on eBay. Check the loft and bounce against the chart above before buying used — wedges are routinely bent from standard, and worn grooves cost spin long before a wedge looks worn.
