About the Callaway Solaire
The Solaire launched Callaway's long-running women's complete-set line, sold for the 2012 season as 9-piece and 14-piece packaged sets rather than as an open iron set. In the full 14-piece configuration the 5-, 6- and 7-irons are replaced by matching hybrids, so the true irons run only from the 8-iron down through pitching, approach and sand wedges, on light women's-flex graphite shafts — the only build offered, and the spec below. Callaway replaced it with the Solaire II during 2012, keeping the 8- and 9-iron specs unchanged, and the Solaire name has continued through refreshed generations since. A cheaper Solaire II 9-piece starter set used a different iron makeup, with a 32 degree 7-iron and a 40 degree 9-iron.

Frequently asked questions
What irons come in the Callaway Solaire set?
The 2012 Solaire 14-piece set includes only an 8-iron and 9-iron plus pitching, approach and sand wedges — the 5-, 6- and 7-irons are replaced by matching hybrids of 26, 29 and 32 degrees.
What is the loft of the Callaway Solaire 8-iron?
The Solaire 8-iron has a loft of 36 degrees, with a 63.5 degree lie and a 35.75 inch women's graphite length.
What are the wedge lofts in the Callaway Solaire set?
The pitching wedge is 44 degrees, the approach wedge 49 degrees and the sand wedge 54 degrees, all with a 65 degree lie.
Is there a men's version of the Callaway Solaire?
No. The Solaire line is women's only and was sold exclusively with light women's-flex graphite shafts, so no men's or steel-shaft spec exists.
Finding a used set
The Callaway Solaire ran from 2012 to 2012 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.
- Archived callawaygolf.com Solaire 14-Piece Complete Set specifications page (archive.org capture, 3 January 2012) — loft, lie angle, length and swing weight for the whole set, including the 8-iron through sand wedge and the hybrid replacements for the 5-, 6- and 7-irons
- Callaway Golf Pre-Owned ProductSpecs feed for the 2012 Solaire II women's irons (ProductSpecs-Get) — the 8- and 9-iron specs carried over unchanged into the Solaire II, independently matching the archived table
- Archived callawaygolf.com Solaire II 9-Piece Set specifications page (archive.org capture, 28 May 2012) — the Solaire II starter set's different iron makeup (32 degree 7-iron, 40 degree 9-iron), and evidence that the Solaire II had replaced the original Solaire on Callaway's site during 2012
- Note on years: the earliest archive capture of the Solaire set pages is 3 January 2012 and the line is catalogued as a 2012 model; a late-2011 announcement cannot be ruled out. year_discontinued is 2012 because the Solaire II superseded it on Callaway's site within the same year. Specs are the women's graphite build — the set was not offered in steel or in a men's spec. Offset was not published and is omitted.
