Lofts compared

- Apex Ai200
What the differences mean
At the 7-iron, the Apex 21 is 30.5° and the Apex Ai200 is 30°, a 0.5° gap. Each degree of loft is worth roughly 3 to 4 yards of carry at the same swing speed, so the Apex Ai200 should carry about 2 yards further with that club, on a slightly lower, shallower flight than the Apex 21. Across the 8 clubs both sets share, the Apex Ai200 averages 0.3° stronger, with the largest gap at the 5-iron (23.5° vs 23°).
The sets are built differently: the Apex 21 runs 3-iron to AW (9 clubs), the Apex Ai200 4-iron to AW (8 clubs).
Both are players distance irons, built for roughly 5 to 15 handicaps who want extra distance from a compact head. Forged or multi-material heads that keep a compact look while adding face technology and stronger lofts for distance. Because they target the same golfer, the decision comes down to the specific loft, feel and shaping differences rather than who the sets are made for.
The Apex 21 is listed as forged, multi-material and the Apex Ai200 as forged hollow body with a forged face cup. The Apex Ai200's hollow body lets the face flex more and moves mass low and outward, usually giving higher launch and more ball speed on off-centre strikes than the Apex 21, at some cost in feel. The Apex 21 adds tungsten weighting, which lowers the centre of gravity and raises stability on mis-hits, helping the long irons launch.
The Apex Ai200 arrived 3 years after the Apex 21, a typical one-generation refresh. Changes over that span are usually incremental: refined face thickness, revised weighting, updated looks and small loft tweaks rather than a new concept. Here the 7-iron loft moved from 30.5° to 30°.
Which should you choose?
The Apex Ai200 is the stronger-lofted set — up to 0.5° stronger than the Apex 21 on matching clubs. Expect longer carry per numbered iron but a flatter descent angle; gapping at the wedge end is where that shows up.
