Lofts compared

What the differences mean
At the 7-iron, the Paradym Ai Smoke is 28° and the Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast is 31°, a 3° gap. Each degree of loft is worth roughly 3 to 4 yards of carry at the same swing speed, so the Paradym Ai Smoke should carry roughly 9 to 12 yards further with that club, on a slightly lower, shallower flight than the Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast. Across the 9 clubs both sets share, the Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast averages 2.4° weaker, with the largest gap at the 5-iron (22° vs 25°). The pitching wedges are 42° and 44°; the stronger one leaves a 8° jump to a 50° gap wedge, which matters when planning wedge gapping. Beyond loft, the Paradym Ai Smoke 7-iron sits 0.2° flatter (62.25° vs 62.5°), which nudges start direction slightly right for a right-hander; the Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast 7-iron is 0.25 inches longer (37.25" vs 37.5").
The sets are built differently: the Paradym Ai Smoke runs 4-iron to SW (10 clubs), the Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast 5-iron to SW (9 clubs).
Both are game improvement irons, built for roughly 10 to 25 handicaps. Perimeter-weighted cavity backs with wider soles, more offset and stronger lofts, aimed at mid handicaps. Because they target the same golfer, the decision comes down to the specific loft, feel and shaping differences rather than who the sets are made for.
The Paradym Ai Smoke is listed as forged face cup in a cast body with urethane microspheres and the Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast as investment cast, multi-material. Both use tungsten weighting to lower the centre of gravity and steady the head on off-centre strikes.
Both sets were introduced in 2024, so this is a choice between two models from the same lineup rather than an upgrade: Callaway designed them to sit side by side for different players.
Which should you choose?
The Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast is the weaker-lofted set — up to 3° weaker than the Paradym Ai Smoke. That trades raw distance for a steeper landing angle and more predictable stopping power into greens.
