Lofts compared
- Air-X (2024)
- KING MAX
What the differences mean
At the 7-iron, the Air-X (2024) is 30° and the KING MAX is 29.5°, a 0.5° gap. Each degree of loft is worth roughly 3 to 4 yards of carry at the same swing speed, so the KING MAX should carry about 2 yards further with that club, on a slightly lower, shallower flight than the Air-X (2024). Across the 9 clubs both sets share, the differences roughly cancel out, with the largest gap at the PW (43.5° vs 44.5°). The pitching wedges are 43.5° and 44.5°; the stronger one leaves a 6.5° jump to a 50° gap wedge, which matters when planning wedge gapping. Beyond loft, the Air-X (2024) 7-iron sits 1.5° flatter (62.5° vs 64°), which nudges start direction slightly right for a right-hander.
Both are super game improvement irons, built for high handicaps, beginners and slower swing speeds. The most forgiving category — very wide soles, maximum perimeter weighting and the strongest lofts. Because they target the same golfer, the decision comes down to the specific loft, feel and shaping differences rather than who the sets are made for.
The Air-X (2024) is listed as investment cast cavity back with an A.I.-designed H.O.T. Face, ultra-lightweight build and the KING MAX as cast distance iron with a 360 SPEEDSHELL face and a 3D-printed internal medallion. With the build method this similar, differences in feel come down to head size, sole width, topline and offset rather than how the heads are made.
The KING MAX came out 3 years after the Air-X (2024), but it is a different line rather than a direct replacement, so the two were designed for different golfers as well as different seasons.
Which should you choose?
The KING MAX is the weaker-lofted set — up to 1° weaker than the Air-X (2024). That trades raw distance for a steeper landing angle and more predictable stopping power into greens.
