What the differences mean

Every club the two sets share has exactly the same loft, starting with a 35° 7-iron. On paper there is no distance or trajectory difference: with the same swing, a 7-iron from either set should launch and carry about the same. The real differences are in how the heads are built, how they look at address and how they feel at impact, none of which a spec table can show.

The sets are built differently: the Pro Combo OS runs 3-iron to PW (8 clubs), the CCi Forged 2-iron to PW (9 clubs).

The Pro Combo OS is a game improvement iron and the CCi Forged a players iron, so they sit 2 steps apart on the forgiveness scale. The Pro Combo OS is the more forgiving design, with a wider sole, more offset and more perimeter weighting for roughly 10 to 25 handicaps. The CCi Forged trades some of that for a more compact head, thinner topline and more control over flight and shape, which suits roughly scratch to 10 handicaps.

The Pro Combo OS is listed as forged progressive combo set and the CCi Forged as forged muscle-cavity with tungsten/composite insert. The CCi Forged adds tungsten weighting, which lowers the centre of gravity and raises stability on mis-hits, helping the long irons launch. The CCi Forged's muscle-back shape keeps mass directly behind the strike for feedback and control, where a cavity spreads it to the perimeter for forgiveness.

The CCi Forged came out 1 year after the Pro Combo OS, but it is a different line rather than a direct replacement, so the two were designed for different golfers as well as different seasons.

Which should you choose?

The Pro Combo OS and CCi Forged share the same lofts on every club on file, so the difference is in head construction, feel and forgiveness rather than trajectory.
