What the differences mean
At the 7-iron, the Exotics C722 is 30° and the Exotics E723 is 27.5°, a 2.5° gap. Each degree of loft is worth roughly 3 to 4 yards of carry at the same swing speed, so the Exotics E723 should carry roughly 8 to 10 yards further with that club, on a slightly lower, shallower flight than the Exotics C722. Across the 8 clubs both sets share, the Exotics E723 averages 2.2° stronger, with the largest gap at the AW (49° vs 46°). The pitching wedges are 44° and 42°; the stronger one leaves a 8° jump to a 50° gap wedge, which matters when planning wedge gapping.
The sets are built differently: the Exotics C722 runs 3-iron to AW (9 clubs), the Exotics E723 4-iron to SW (10 clubs).
The Exotics C722 is a players distance iron and the Exotics E723 a game improvement iron, so they sit one step apart on the forgiveness scale. The Exotics E723 is the more forgiving design, with a wider sole, more offset and more perimeter weighting for roughly 10 to 25 handicaps. The Exotics C722 trades some of that for a more compact head, thinner topline and more control over flight and shape, which suits roughly 5 to 15 handicaps who want extra distance from a compact head.
The Exotics C722 is listed as hollow body, plasma-welded military-grade maraging steel L-Cup face on a stainless steel body and the Exotics E723 as one-piece cast steel body with a 360-degree undercut and multi-material electroform cap. The Exotics C722's hollow body lets the face flex more and moves mass low and outward, usually giving higher launch and more ball speed on off-centre strikes than the Exotics E723, at some cost in feel.
The Exotics E723 came out 1 year after the Exotics C722, but it is a different line rather than a direct replacement, so the two were designed for different golfers as well as different seasons.
Which should you choose?
The Exotics E723 is the stronger-lofted set — up to 3° stronger than the Exotics C722 on matching clubs. Expect longer carry per numbered iron but a flatter descent angle; gapping at the wedge end is where that shows up.
