Lofts compared

- Launch Pad 2
What the differences mean
Every club the two sets share has exactly the same loft, starting with a 30° 7-iron. On paper there is no distance or trajectory difference: with the same swing, a 7-iron from either set should launch and carry about the same. The real differences are in how the heads are built, how they look at address and how they feel at impact, none of which a spec table can show.
The sets are built differently: the Launch Pad runs 4-iron to SW (9 clubs), the Launch Pad 2 5-iron to SW (8 clubs).
Both are super game improvement irons, built for high handicaps, beginners and slower swing speeds. The most forgiving category — very wide soles, maximum perimeter weighting and the strongest lofts. Because they target the same golfer, the decision comes down to the specific loft, feel and shaping differences rather than who the sets are made for.
The Launch Pad is listed as hollow body and the Launch Pad 2 as lightweight cavity back. The Launch Pad's hollow body lets the face flex more and moves mass low and outward, usually giving higher launch and more ball speed on off-centre strikes than the Launch Pad 2, at some cost in feel.
The Launch Pad 2 arrived 3 years after the Launch Pad, a typical one-generation refresh. Changes over that span are usually incremental: refined face thickness, revised weighting, updated looks and small loft tweaks rather than a new concept.
Which should you choose?
The Launch Pad and Launch Pad 2 share the same lofts on every club on file, so the difference is in head construction, feel and forgiveness rather than trajectory.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Wilson Launch Pad stronger lofted than the Launch Pad 2?
No. Both have a 30° 7-iron and the same loft on every club they share, so neither is stronger lofted. The difference is in construction and feel.
