What the differences mean

Every club the two sets share has exactly the same loft, starting with a 28° 7-iron. On paper there is no distance or trajectory difference: with the same swing, a 7-iron from either set should launch and carry about the same. The real differences are in how the heads are built, how they look at address and how they feel at impact, none of which a spec table can show. Lie angles and lengths match as well, so any fitting adjustment made to one set would carry straight over to the other.

The sets are built differently: the Prime runs 6-iron to SW (7 clubs), the Prime Royal Edition 5-iron to SW (8 clubs).

Both are super game improvement irons, built for high handicaps, beginners and slower swing speeds. The most forgiving category — very wide soles, maximum perimeter weighting and the strongest lofts. Because they target the same golfer, the decision comes down to the specific loft, feel and shaping differences rather than who the sets are made for.

The Prime is listed as four-piece cast body with a bonded titanium face and a Rebound Frame and the Prime Royal Edition as four-piece cast body with a bonded titanium face and an expanded Rebound Frame. Both use tungsten weighting to lower the centre of gravity and steady the head on off-centre strikes.

Both sets were introduced in 2025, so this is a choice between two models from the same lineup rather than an upgrade: XXIO designed them to sit side by side for different players.

Which should you choose?

The Prime and Prime Royal Edition share the same lofts on every club on file, so the difference is in head construction, feel and forgiveness rather than trajectory.
