About the Adams Idea Pro Black CB1
The Idea Pro Black CB1 is the cavity-back sibling of the Idea Pro Black muscle-back blade (sold simply as "Idea Pro Black" when it launched in 2009, later relabelled "Idea Pro Black MB" once Adams reused the Idea Pro Black name for a hybrid). Announced 31 March 2010 and shipping from 15 April 2010 at 899.99 USD in steel, the CB1 is forged from 8620 carbon steel with a nickel-chrome and black PVD finish, using a milled cavity and precisely located center of gravity that Adams said was originally developed for its own tour staff, including Tom Watson, before joining the retail Idea range. It shipped only as a 4-iron through gap wedge set with no 3-iron offered, and within about three weeks was effectively superseded at the top of Adams' lineup by the Idea Black CB2 (announced 21 April 2010): CB2 keeps almost the same lies and lengths but strengthens every shared loft by roughly a degree, pointing to the CB2 being a fast running refinement of the CB1 rather than a full redesign.

Frequently asked questions
What is the loft of an Adams Idea Pro Black CB1 7-iron?
The Adams Idea Pro Black CB1 7-iron has a loft of 34 degrees, with a 62.25-degree lie and a 37-inch length.
What clubs come in a stock Adams Idea Pro Black CB1 set?
Eight clubs, 4-iron through gap wedge. The CB1 was not offered with a 3-iron.
What is the difference between the Adams Idea Pro Black CB1 and Idea Black CB2 irons?
The two share nearly identical lies and lengths through the set, but the CB2 (announced about three weeks after the CB1 shipped) strengthened every shared loft by roughly one degree - for example the 7-iron moved from 34 degrees on the CB1 to 33 degrees on the CB2.
Finding a used set
The Adams Idea Pro Black CB1 ran from 2010 to 2010 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.

- GolfCrunch.com, 'Adams Golf Launches Idea Pro Black CB1 Irons' (https://www.golfcrunch.com/golf-equipment/adams-golf-launches-idea-pro-black-cb1-irons/) - corroborating press coverage; quotes Adams CEO Chip Brewer that the CB1 shape was originally developed exclusively for Adams tour staff, including Tom Watson, before becoming part of the retail Idea Pro Black range
- Confidence notes: web.archive.org could not be reached in this research session, so no primary adamsgolf.com manufacturer capture was available; the spec table instead rests on two independent, mutually-corroborating retailer listings rather than the manufacturer site itself. The 2009 'Idea Pro Black' (see ShotTalk thread 'Adams Golf Idea Pro Black Muscle-Back Irons') was a muscleback/blade shape, not a cavity back, so it is not treated as a direct shape predecessor of the CB1; predecessor is instead set to Adams Idea Pro Gold, the last full stock forged players'-iron generation before the Idea Pro Black name family (see data/adams/idea-pro-gold-irons.yaml, successor: Adams Idea Pro Black). year_discontinued 2010 reflects that the Idea Black CB2 was announced only about three weeks after the CB1 shipped (see data/adams/idea-black-cb2-irons.yaml), implying a very short standalone sales life for the CB1 rather than confirmed exact discontinuation documentation
