Lofts compared
- Apex 21
- Apex CB (2024)
What the differences mean
At the 7-iron, the Apex 21 is 30.5° and the Apex CB (2024) is 34°, a 3.5° gap. Each degree of loft is worth roughly 3 to 4 yards of carry at the same swing speed, so the Apex 21 should carry roughly 10 to 14 yards further with that club, on a slightly lower, shallower flight than the Apex CB (2024). Across the 9 clubs both sets share, the Apex CB (2024) averages 2.8° weaker, with the largest gap at the 6-iron (26.5° vs 30°). The pitching wedges are 43° and 46°; the stronger one leaves a 7° jump to a 50° gap wedge, which matters when planning wedge gapping.
The Apex 21 is a players distance iron and the Apex CB (2024) a players iron, so they sit one step apart on the forgiveness scale. The Apex 21 is the more forgiving design, with a wider sole, more offset and more perimeter weighting for roughly 5 to 15 handicaps who want extra distance from a compact head. The Apex CB (2024) trades some of that for a more compact head, thinner topline and more control over flight and shape, which suits roughly scratch to 10 handicaps.
The Apex 21 is listed as forged, multi-material and the Apex CB (2024) as forged with tungsten weighting. Both use tungsten weighting to lower the centre of gravity and steady the head on off-centre strikes.
The Apex CB (2024) came out 2 years after the Apex 21, but it is a different line rather than a direct replacement, so the two were designed for different golfers as well as different seasons.
Which should you choose?
The Apex CB (2024) is the weaker-lofted set — up to 3.5° weaker than the Apex 21. That trades raw distance for a steeper landing angle and more predictable stopping power into greens.
