About the Mizuno S23

The S23 is Mizuno's 2023 S-Series wedge, the slightly fuller, more forgiving partner to the T24, Grain Flow Forged HD in Hiroshima from 1025 boron steel and replaced by the Mizuno Pro T-3 in 2025. QuadCut grooves vary by loft, laser-etched HydroFlow micro grooves channel moisture, and the head shape flows from a straight-edged teardrop at the strong lofts to a rounder lob-wedge profile. The stock chart below lists the 12 loft/bounce/grind combinations sold off the rack; through Mizuno's custom program the S23 could also be ordered at every degree of loft from 44 to 62. Finishes were White Satin and Copper Cobalt. Lie and length are omitted because Mizuno's published US and UK charts disagree.

Grind options

The sole grinds this model is sold in, with the lofts each one is available at.

S Grind46°, 50°, 52°, 54°
Minimal sole grind for fuller shots — the only sole at the gap lofts and the standard sand-wedge option.
D Grind54°, 56°, 58°
Moderate heel and toe relief for gentle face manipulation, at 54 to 58 degrees.
C Grind56°, 58°, 60°
Heavy relief for more skilled players and firmer conditions, at 56 to 60 degrees.
X Grind58°, 60°
Extreme heel, toe and trailing-edge relief for short-game artists — the lowest-bounce option, at 58 and 60 degrees.

Frequently asked questions

What lofts does the Mizuno S23 come in?

The stock chart runs 46 to 60 degrees in 12 loft/bounce/grind combinations; through Mizuno's custom program it could be ordered at every degree of loft from 44 to 62.

What grinds does the Mizuno S23 offer?

Four: the minimal S at the gap and sand lofts, D with moderate relief (54-58), C with heavy relief (56-60) and the extreme-relief low-bounce X (58-60).

How does the S23 differ from the T24?

The S23 is the fuller, more forgiving shape with a simpler four-grind chart and a KBS Hi-Rev stock shaft at a lower price; the T24 is the compact tour head with five grinds and 17 combinations.

Finding one used

The Mizuno S23 ran from 2023 to 2025 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search the used listings on eBay. Check the loft and bounce against the chart above before buying used — wedges are routinely bent from standard, and worn grooves cost spin long before a wedge looks worn.
