About the Ping G730
The G730 replaces the G710 but drops that model's hollow body for a cavity back: a 17-4 stainless steel head whose face is heat-treated so it can be made thinner and flex more, with Ping's PurFlex badge in the cavity. It is also the strongest-lofted iron Ping has made: 28 degrees at the 7-iron and 40 at the pitching wedge, four degrees stronger through the set than the G710. The set starts at a 5-iron rather than a 4-iron and is filled out with a 45-degree utility and 50- and 56-degree wedges, which is how Ping keeps the gapping usable underneath a 40-degree pitching wedge. The Ping G730 ran from 2024 to 2026 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search the used listings on eBay, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.
