About the Ping Serene

The Serene was Ping's women's line between the Faith and the 2015 Rhapsody revival. Perimeter and back-flange weighting drive the centre of gravity low and back for a high, easy trajectory, with a floating CTP weight in the cavity for distance control. The stock set blends Serene hybrids at 22, 26 and 30 degrees into the 4H-6H slots above the irons, which run from a 25 degree 5-iron to a 58 degree lob wedge with a 31.5 degree 7-iron. Ping published the lie angles unrounded, based on the Red colour code at standard ladies length, half an inch under men's standard, with light C4 to D0 swing weights on the stock ULT 210 graphite.

Frequently asked questions

What is the loft of a Ping Serene 7-iron?

The Ping Serene 7-iron has a loft of 31.5 degrees, a Red colour code lie of 62.25 degrees and a 36.25 inch standard ladies graphite length.

Why does the Ping Serene set start at the 5-iron?

The Serene was sold as a hybrid-iron combo: matching Serene hybrids at 22, 26 and 30 degrees fill the 4H, 5H and 6H slots above the 5-iron through lob wedge irons.

When were Ping Serene irons made?

The Serene launched in late 2013 as the successor to the Faith and was replaced by the second-generation Rhapsody in 2015.

Finding a used set

The Ping Serene ran from 2013 to 2015 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.

Data compiled from:
  • Ping's own Serene product page, Specifications tab (web.archive.org capture of ping.com/clubs/ironsdetail.aspx?id=14105, February 2014) - supplied every loft, length, offset, lie, bounce and swing weight above, the 4H/5H/6H hybrid specs (22, 26 and 30 degrees, C5), the ULT 210i Lite (51g) and Ultra Lite (44g) shaft table, the Purple 360 ID8 stock grip, and the note that lie angle is based on the Red colour code at standard ladies length
  • Same archived page - set composition '5 through pitching wedge, plus a 52 degree sand wedge and a 58 degree lob wedge', with perimeter and back-flange weighting and a floating CTP weight
  • The archived page's navigation lists the Serene alongside the G25, i25, S55 and Anser generation, dating the line to late 2013; the second-generation Rhapsody announced in early 2015 replaced it, which sets year_discontinued on the successor convention
