About the Proto-Concept C07

The C07 is the most forgiving model in PROTOCONCEPT's original C-series, part of the first iron range from the brand the Endo forging house and the Golf Partner retail group established in 2019, on the market from 2020 alongside the C01 and C05. A forged SAE8655 chromium-molybdenum face with three distinct thickness zones - about 1.8 mm at the top blade thinning to 2.7 mm lower on the face - is joined to an S20C carbon steel body over a pocket cavity, pushing weight low and deep for an easy, straight ball flight. Heads are sold component-style, 4-PW, assembled to order in Japan or the USA. Lengths below are the manufacturer's recommended steel assembly lengths; PROTOCONCEPT publishes face progression rather than offset, so that key is omitted. The loft ladder carried unchanged into PROTOCONCEPT's current "PC" (Premium Custom) C07PC line, which added a 49-degree gap wedge.

Frequently asked questions

What is the loft of a Proto-Concept C07 7-iron?

The Proto-Concept C07 7-iron has a loft of 31 degrees, a lie of 62.5 degrees, and a recommended steel length of 37 inches.

Is the Proto-Concept C07 forged?

The face is forged SAE8655 chromium-molybdenum steel with three distinct thickness zones, joined to an S20C forged carbon-steel body over a pocket cavity.

Is the Proto-Concept C07 the most forgiving model in the C-series?

Yes - among the original C01, C03, C05 and C07 lineup, the C07's deep pocket cavity and low, deep centre of gravity make it the most game-improvement-oriented of the four.

Where it sits in the lineup

Introduced in 2020, the Proto-Concept C07 is a current game improvement set in the Proto-Concept range, with no replacement announced. New sets are built to the standard lofts, lies and lengths in the chart above, though a fitting can move any of them — so confirm the numbers on the order sheet. Used sets appear on eBay, 2nd Swing and Golf Avenue, and should be measured against this chart before buying.
