About the TaylorMade Burner XD
The Burner XD ("extreme distance") was the oversized distance iron of TaylorMade's 2008 Burner family, released in September 2008 and aimed squarely at golfers wanting maximum yardage and forgiveness. A thin, flexible titanium face with Inverted Cone Technology sits on a 17-4 stainless body, with the weight saved by the titanium moved low and deep in the extra-large head, and the light SuperFast shaft package adds clubhead speed. Lofts are very strong, with a 30-degree 7-iron and 44-degree pitching wedge across the 3-iron to lob wedge range. Specs below are the men's standard steel-shaft build.

Frequently asked questions
What is the loft of a TaylorMade Burner XD 7-iron?
The TaylorMade Burner XD 7-iron has a loft of 30 degrees, with a 63-degree lie and a 36.75-inch steel-shaft length. It was among the strongest-lofted 7-irons of its era.
Does the TaylorMade Burner XD have a titanium face?
Yes. The face is a thin, flexible titanium panel with Inverted Cone Technology mounted on a 17-4 stainless steel body, which TaylorMade credited for up to 8 more yards than an average iron.
Why are the Burner XD swingweights so light?
The head is deliberately light at around D0 in the irons because the SuperFast package combines a light head, light 90-gram steel shaft and light grip to raise clubhead speed. TaylorMade published D0 steel swingweights for the 3-iron through 9-iron.
Finding a used set
The TaylorMade Burner XD ran from 2008 to 2009 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.
