About the Titleist Vokey SM9
The SM9 is the 2022 generation of the Vokey Design line, announced in January 2022 and at retail from March 2022 until the SM10 replaced it in March 2024. It raised the forward centre of gravity further than the SM8 for a lower, more controlled flight, and brought the low-bounce T grind from WedgeWorks into the standard line, giving a 25-combination matrix from 46 to 62 degrees across seven grinds (F, S, M, D, K, L, T) — the only Vokey generation with both L and T in line. Grooves are cut to the edge and the impact area is locally heat treated. Finishes were Tour Chrome, Brushed Steel, Jet Black and Raw.
Grind options
The sole grinds this model is sold in, with the lofts each one is available at.
- F Grind46°, 48°, 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°
- All-purpose grind suited to full shots and square-face shots — the traditional sole, the most played sand wedge on tour, and the only option at the strong lofts from 46 to 52 degrees.
- S Grind54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- A full sole narrowed by a trailing-edge grind for a faster feel through the turf. Best in neutral to firm conditions for players who control loft with their hands ahead or behind the ball.
- M Grind56°, 58°, 60°, 62°
- Bob Vokey's favourite — for players who rotate the face open and closed to manufacture shots, with a shallower, sweeping swing.
- D Grind54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- Heel, toe and trailing-edge versatility with forgiveness from high measured bounce, for steeper attack angles and varied face positions.
- K Grind58°, 60°
- The highest-bounce wedge in the lineup, with a wide full sole and enhanced camber — the ultimate bunker club, forgiving from softer sand and turf.
- L Grind60°
- The lowest-bounce option, with heel, toe and trailing-edge relief for firm conditions and precise players with complete control at impact.
- T Grind58°, 60°
- The narrowest sole in the SM9 lineup — a low-bounce grind with maximum heel, toe and trailing-edge relief for the ultimate in greenside versatility, newly promoted from WedgeWorks into the standard line.

Frequently asked questions
What lofts does the Titleist Vokey SM9 come in?
The Vokey SM9 was sold from 46 to 62 degrees in 2-degree steps — 25 loft, bounce and grind combinations.
What grinds does the Vokey SM9 offer?
Seven: F (46-56 degrees), S (54-60), M (56-62), D (54-60), K (58-60), the low-bounce L (60 only) and the T grind (58-60), which moved from WedgeWorks into the standard line with this generation.
Is the Vokey SM9 still in production?
No — the SM10 replaced it in March 2024. SM9 wedges remain plentiful on the used market, and the loft, bounce and grind stamped on each head make used examples easy to identify against this chart.
What is the difference between the SM9 L grind and T grind?
Both carry 4 degrees of bounce at 60 degrees. The T grind has the narrowest sole in the lineup with maximum heel, toe and trailing-edge relief; the L is a slightly wider low-bounce sole for firm conditions. The SM9 was the only generation to offer both in the standard line.
Finding one used
The Titleist Vokey SM9 ran from 2022 to 2024 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search the used listings on eBay. Check the loft and bounce against the chart above before buying used — wedges are routinely bent from standard, and worn grooves cost spin long before a wedge looks worn.
