About the Wilson Staff Di7

The Di7 was the distance model in Wilson Staff's mid-2000s D/C/F fitting system, a stainless steel undercut-cavity iron with a low-profile head and wide sole that drops the centre of gravity for a high initial launch. Like the rest of the line it used Wilson's wide-tip shaft to resist twisting on mishits. Lofts sit roughly a degree strong of the companion Ci6 through the middle irons, with half-degree steps built into the 5-7 irons rather than the usual whole-degree ladder.

Frequently asked questions

What is the loft of a Wilson Staff Di7 7-iron?

The Wilson Staff Di7 7-iron has a loft of 31.5 degrees, a lie of 62 degrees and a steel-shaft length of 37.5 inches.

What kind of golfer were the Wilson Di7 irons for?

The Di7 was the distance-focused game-improvement model in Wilson's D/C/F system, aimed at mid-to-high handicappers wanting high launch and forgiveness from a wide-soled, low-CG head.

What is special about the Di7's shafts?

The Di7 used Wilson's wide-tip shaft design — a fatter tip section intended to reduce head twisting on off-centre hits.

Finding a used set

The Wilson Staff Di7 ran from 2006 to 2008 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.

Data compiled from:
  • 2nd Swing Golf specification table for the Wilson Staff Di7 iron set (https://www.2ndswing.com/golf-clubs/iron-sets/wilson-staff-staff-di7-iron-set) — supplied every loft, lie and length above; the listed D0-D4 swing-weight range is a spread rather than a single value and is omitted
  • Today's Golfer Wilson Staff Di7 review and Golf Monthly Di7 review — 2006-2007 model window, stainless undercut cavity with wide sole and low CG, wide-tip shaft system, True Temper Taper-Tech CL steel / Nano-Tech II graphite stock shafts (steel lengths quoted; graphite adds half an inch per club)
  • Offset and bounce were never published for this model and are omitted; confidence is medium
