About the Callaway X-Tour

The X-Tour was Callaway's first forged iron, a Roger Cleveland design that began shipping to pro shops on 15 April 2005 at 1,280 dollars for a 3-PW set. It marked the entry of a company built on cast game improvement heads into the traditional forged players market, and its loft ladder is correspondingly classical: a 35 degree 7-iron and a 47 degree pitching wedge, three degrees per club through the middle of the set. The X-Forged of 2007 replaced it and kept the same lofts, lies and lengths.

Finding a used set

The Callaway X-Tour ran from 2005 to 2007 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.

Data compiled from:
  • Callaway Golf Pre-Owned official product page for the X-Tour irons (callawaygolfpreowned.com/iron-sets/irons-x-tour.html) — loft, lie, length and D2 swing weight for the 2-iron through pitching wedge
  • qsponge.com reproduction of the Callaway spec feed for the X-Tour irons — loft and lie agree cell for cell with the Callaway page
  • liveabout.com 'Looking Back at Callaway's First Forged Set: The X-Tour Irons' — 2005 debut, shipping date of 15 April 2005, Roger Cleveland design and 1,280 dollar 3-PW MSRP
  • Note: bounce and offset were not published in the sources located, so those columns are omitted rather than estimated. Length is carried by the Callaway-owned page only, which is why confidence is medium
