About the Cleveland CBX4 ZipCore

The CBX 4 ZipCore is Cleveland's 2024 cavity-back wedge for golfers who play game-improvement irons, at North American retail from 24 January 2024 and still in the catalogue. The fourth CBX generation adds more ZipCore to the head (4.6 percent extra in the 54 and 56 for the highest MOI ever in a CBX wedge, with heel/toe MOI up 7 percent overall), HydraZip face blasts and laser lines for wet-weather friction, and UltiZip grooves. Cleveland pre-selects one Dynamic Sole Grind per loft — V-shaped on the gap lofts, S-shaped on the sand lofts, C-shaped on the lob lofts — all with a leading-edge bounce chamfer against chunks. The 44-48 degree heads are right-handed only.

S-Shaped Sole54°, 56°
Fitted to the 54 and 56 degree lofts with added bounce — built for bunker shots and open-face finesse around the green.
C-Shaped Sole58°, 60°

Frequently asked questions

What lofts does the Cleveland CBX 4 ZipCore come in?

44 to 60 degrees in 2-degree steps — nine lofts, each in a single factory bounce and sole grind. The 44, 46 and 48 are right-handed only.

Can you choose a grind on the CBX 4 ZipCore?

No — Cleveland pairs each loft with one Dynamic Sole Grind: V-shaped at 44-52 (12 bounce), S-shaped at 54-56 (14 bounce) and C-shaped at 58-60 (12 bounce).

Who is the CBX 4 ZipCore for?

Golfers who play cavity-back irons and want matching forgiveness in their wedges — it is Cleveland's game-improvement line beside the tour-focused RTZ.

Where it sits in the lineup

Introduced in 2024, the Cleveland CBX4 ZipCore is a current game improvement wedge in the Cleveland range as of October 2026, with no replacement announced. It replaced the Cleveland CBX ZipCore. New wedges are built to the loft, bounce and grind options in the chart above; a fitting can bend loft and lie from standard, so confirm the numbers on the order sheet. Check the loft and bounce against the chart above before buying used — wedges are routinely bent from standard, and worn grooves cost spin long before a wedge looks worn.
