About the Cleveland TA2 Micro-Cavity
The TA2 Micro-Cavity is a late addition to Cleveland's Tour Action range, aimed at low-to-mid handicappers who want "the forgiveness of a cavity-back and the workability of a blade". Its shallow micro cavity and moderate perimeter weighting enlarge the sweet spot and stabilise the face while the head design shortens the duration of impact vibration for a solid, blade-like feel. Lofts are traditional — 34 degrees at the 7-iron and 46 at the pitching wedge — on Dynamic Gold stock, with Sensicore, Rifle and Flighted Rifle custom options. Despite the low model number, the TA2 is one of the last Tour Action irons: it appears in Cleveland's line in 2003, after the TA7, and the task-brief's 1996 date belongs to no TA2 — the 1996 Cleveland iron was the VAS+. Cleveland's published length columns contain three internally inconsistent cells; see sources.

Frequently asked questions
What is the loft of a Cleveland TA2 7-iron?
The Cleveland TA2 Micro-Cavity 7-iron has a loft of 34 degrees, a lie of 62.5 degrees and a steel-shaft length of 36.75 inches.
What year are the Cleveland TA2 irons?
The TA2 Micro-Cavity joined Cleveland's line in 2003, near the end of the Tour Action era — the model numbers were never chronological. There was no 1996 TA2; Cleveland's 1996 iron was the VAS+.
Who are the Cleveland TA2 Micro-Cavity irons for?
Low-to-mid handicappers who want a blade-like head with a small safety margin: the shallow micro cavity adds forgiveness and face stability while keeping the workability and solid feel of a blade.
Finding a used set
The Cleveland TA2 Micro-Cavity ran from 2003 to 2004 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.
- Cleveland Golf official TA2 Micro-Cavity product page (clevelandgolf.com/proshop/irons/ta2.php), archived 2003-06-08 via web.archive.org — retrieved directly; supplies the 1-iron-through-SW table (loft, lie, steel and graphite lengths, swing weights, offset), the micro-cavity design story and the Dynamic Gold / Rifle / Flighted Rifle / GAT 100 shaft options. HONEST SOURCING NOTE: three steel-length cells in Cleveland's table are internally inconsistent (the 7-iron prints 39.75, the 8-iron 36.75 and the SW 35.50); the values here follow the half-inch ladder used by the other nine clubs and the graphite column (steel = graphite - 0.25 inch), giving 36.75, 36.25 and 35.00 respectively.
- GolfClubShaftReview compiled Cleveland stock-shaft list (golfclubshaftreview.com, cleveland1.2.pdf) — lists 'TA-2 Irons (Micro-Cavity)' in 2003 with Dynamic Gold R3/S3/X1, corroborating the 2003 model year
