About the Cobra BiO Cell+

The BiO Cell+ is the compact, better-player companion to Cobra's BiO Cell iron, launched in early 2014 (the archived product page began shipping 7 February 2014). It pairs a tour-inspired head shape with the same technology stack — E9 variable-thickness face, a large unsupported face over a perimeter undercut, and tungsten placed in the heel and toe of the long and mid irons and behind the hitting area in the short irons. Lofts sit between a players and a distance iron, with a 32.5-degree 7-iron and 45-degree pitching wedge, and offset is modest, tapering from 4.0 mm to 1.8 mm. The stock set is eight clubs, 4-PW plus gap wedge, in steel only. Offsets below are converted from Cobra's published millimetre figures; the 8-iron length is corrected from an apparent misprint (see sources).

Frequently asked questions

What is the loft of a Cobra BiO Cell+ 7-iron?

The Cobra BiO Cell+ 7-iron has a loft of 32.5 degrees, a lie of 62.5 degrees and a length of 37 inches.

What clubs come in a stock Cobra BiO Cell+ set?

The stock set is eight clubs, 4-iron through pitching wedge plus a 50-degree gap wedge, in steel with True Temper Dynamic Gold shafts. A 3-iron was also catalogued.

What is the difference between the BiO Cell and the BiO Cell+?

The BiO Cell+ is the better-player version: a smaller head with a thinner topline, about two degrees weaker lofts in the mid irons, roughly half the offset, and a Dynamic Gold shaft in place of the lighter Dynalite 85.

Finding a used set

The Cobra BiO Cell+ ran from 2014 to 2015 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.

Data compiled from:
  • Cobra Golf official BiO CELL+ Irons product page (cobragolf.com/bio-cell-plus-irons), archived 2014-01-17 via web.archive.org — retrieved directly; supplies the full Specifications table (loft, length, lie, offset in mm, steel swing weight, stock flex, 3-iron through GW), the 'STOCK SET COMPOSITION - STEEL (Stiff, Reg): 4-PW, GW' block, the E9 Face / tungsten cell / perimeter undercut descriptions and the True Temper Dynamic Gold shaft table. Offsets converted from the published millimetre figures (4.0 down to 1.8).
  • HONEST SOURCING NOTE: the archived Cobra table prints the 8-iron length as 36.00 inches, identical to the 9-iron and breaking the set's half-inch progression (37.00 to 36.00 with nothing between). It is recorded here as 36.50 inches, the value the progression implies; every other number is exactly as published.
  • GolfWRX 'Review: Cobra BiO Cell and BiO Cell+ Irons' — corroborates the 2014 release and the BiO Cell+'s positioning as the thinner-topline, smaller-head better-player model of the BiO Cell family
