What the differences mean
The RTZ offers the wider selection: 20 loft/bounce/grind combinations against 16 for the RTX 6 ZipCore. Each is ground 4 ways — LOW, LOW+, MID, and FULL for the RTX 6 ZipCore, LOW, MID, FULL, and ADAPT for the RTZ.
The RTX 6 ZipCore is sold from 46° to 60°, the RTZ from 46° to 64°. Only the RTZ comes in 62° and 64°.
The scoring lofts are where bounce and grind choice matters most: at 56° both offer 3 options; at 58° the RTZ offers 4 options to 3; at 60° the RTZ offers 4 options to 3. More options at a degree means more ways to match the sole to your turf and swing, which is what a wedge fitting actually selects.
The RTZ arrived 2 years after the RTX 6 ZipCore as its replacement. Wedge generations usually carry over the core loft ladder and adjust the grind catalogue, groove spec and finishes, so the older model is the value buy while stock lasts — the trade-off is the newer grooves, which matter more the more you play.
Which should you choose?
The RTZ is the newer generation, so it carries the current groove spec and the fuller retail availability; the RTX 6 ZipCore is the value buy while closeout and used stock lasts. The option chart above is the tiebreaker — if the exact loft, bounce and grind you play is only in one of them, that decides it.
