About the Ping S59
The S59 started Ping's counting-down S series of compact players irons in 2003, sold alongside the game-improvement G2 and i3+. It is a small cast head with a shallow bar-crossed cavity that keeps some perimeter forgiveness while offering the feel, distance control and penetrating flight of a players club, with a slim top line, beveled sole and minimal offset — 0.09 inches at the 7-iron. Ping published the chart unrounded — the 7-iron reads 34.3 degrees on ping.com's table, 34.25 on the launch-era chart — and the long irons carry negative or zero bounce. The stock build used Ping's 108-gram Z-Z65 steel shaft. Ping's colour-code (dot) system sets lie angle relative to standard; the lies below are the BLACK (standard) lies. The S58 replaced it in 2006 with a near-identical chart.

Was the Ping S59 a blade?
Not quite. It is Ping's most compact cast players iron of its era, with a small head, slim top line and only a shallow bar-crossed cavity for forgiveness — the closest thing to a blade Ping offered at the time.
What came after the Ping S59?
The S58 in 2006, which kept an almost identical loft, lie and length chart and continued the counting-down S series through the S57, S56 and S55.
Why do the Ping S59 long irons have negative bounce?
Ping ground the 2- and 3-iron soles with -1 and 0 degrees of bounce for a cleaner leading edge and a more penetrating strike, rising progressively to 10 degrees at the pitching wedge.
Finding a used set
The Ping S59 ran from 2003 to 2006 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.
