About the XXIO 12

XXIO 12 is the twelfth generation of Dunlop's lightweight premium line, and its defining feature is the 2.1mm titanium face plate on a stainless body, paired with a counterbalanced build. Heads are light — 351 grams total club weight at the 5-iron — and swing weights come out at C8 and C9, far below a conventional set, which is the point: the mass is moved into the grip end so a moderate swing can still load the shaft. XXIO publishes face progression rather than offset for this set. Sets are sold 5-SW right-handed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the loft of an XXIO 12 7-iron?

The XXIO 12 7-iron has a loft of 28 degrees, a lie of 62.5 degrees and a length of 37.25 inches.

Why is the XXIO 12 swing weight only C8?

XXIO builds the set counterbalanced — light heads and light graphite shafts, with mass moved towards the grip. A C8 or C9 reading is normal for the line and is what lets a moderate swing speed still load the shaft.

Does the XXIO 12 come with a 4-iron?

No. The stock set is 5-iron to sand wedge in right hand, and 6-iron to pitching wedge in left hand.

What is the XXIO 12 face made of?

A 2.1mm High Strength Super-TIX-51AF titanium plate on a stainless steel body, with tungsten-nickel weighting to keep the centre of gravity low.

Finding a used set

The XXIO 12 ran from 2021 to 2023 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.

Data compiled from:
  • 2ndswing.com XXIO 12 Iron Set specification table — loft, length, lie, face progression, bounce, total club weight and swing weight (at R flex) for the 5-iron through sand wedge, the 5-SW right-handed / 6-PW left-handed stock make-up and the XXIO MP-1200 stock shaft.
  • xxiobrand.com XXIO 12 Irons product page — the 2.1mm High Strength Super-TIX-51AF titanium face plate, the progressive centre-of-gravity design and the groove progression.
  • Note: offset is omitted because XXIO publishes face progression (0.5mm at the 5-iron to 5.0mm at the sand wedge) rather than an offset figure, and the two are not interchangeable.
