About the Cobra King Cobra SS Forged
The King Cobra SS Forged is the better-player half of Cobra's 2002 SS generation, sold alongside the cast King Cobra SS Oversize. Heads are forged from soft S30C carbon steel and nickel-chrome plated, with traditional lofts of 35 degrees at the 7-iron and 47 at the pitching wedge. Cobra listed the three wedges by loft rather than by letter — 50, 55 and 60 degrees, shown here as GW, SW and LW — and published the set in steel only, at a D2.5 swing weight throughout. As with the other SS-era records, Cobra's offset column runs backwards relative to normal convention (increasing toward the wedges), so it is not reproduced here. A note for anyone researching this era: no 1999 "King Cobra SS" iron exists — Cobra's 1999-2000 line was the Gravity Back and CXI, and the SS name arrived with this 2002 generation.

Frequently asked questions
What is the loft of a King Cobra SS Forged 7-iron?
The King Cobra SS Forged 7-iron has a loft of 35 degrees, a lie of 62.5 degrees and a steel-shaft length of 37 inches.
Are the King Cobra SS Forged irons really forged?
Yes — unlike the cast SS Oversize sold alongside them, these heads are forged from S30C carbon steel and then nickel-chrome plated.
Was there a 1999 King Cobra SS iron?
No. Cobra's 1999 and 2000 irons were the Gravity Back and CXI; the SS name first appeared with the 2002 generation, which comprised the cast SS Oversize and this SS Forged model.
Finding a used set
The Cobra King Cobra SS Forged ran from 2002 to 2004 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.
