About the Epon AF-706
The AF-706 was Epon's first hollow-construction iron, introduced in spring 2020 as the strong-lofted distance model in the AF line. A forged SAE8655 spring-steel face - 1.9 mm at its thinnest - is mated to a forged S20C soft carbon body, with lofts starting at a 22-degree 5-iron and running to a 40-degree pitching wedge, backed by a 45-degree TW (transition wedge), a 50-degree AW and a 56-degree SW to fill the gap to the sand wedge. The AF-706S, announced on 22 January 2022, superseded it with a roughly 3 percent lower centre of gravity. Heads are built to order with no fixed stock shaft; lengths below are the standard steel assembly lengths from the Japanese retail spec chart and offsets are converted from the published gooseneck figures in millimetres.

Frequently asked questions
What is the loft of an Epon AF-706 7-iron?
The Epon AF-706 7-iron has a loft of 28 degrees, with a 62-degree lie and a 37-inch standard steel length.
Is the Epon AF-706 a hollow iron?
Yes - it was Epon's first hollow-body iron. A forged SAE8655 spring-steel face, 1.9 mm at its thinnest, is joined to a forged S20C soft carbon steel body.
What wedges match the Epon AF-706 set?
Because the pitching wedge is only 40 degrees, Epon offered a 45-degree TW, a 50-degree AW and a 56-degree SW in the same head style to complete the set.
Finding a used set
The Epon AF-706 ran from 2020 to 2022 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.
