About the Mizuno MP-4

The MP-4 followed the MP-64 and moved the line further toward a traditional shape, with a thin topline, narrow sole and the least offset of any MP iron of its generation. It is Grain Flow Forged from a single billet of 1025E mild carbon steel and was sold as a 3-PW set. Lofts match the MP-64 exactly, running 21 degrees in the 3-iron to 46 degrees in the pitching wedge with a 34-degree 7-iron, but offset is reduced through the short irons. Specs below are the men's standard steel-shaft build.

Finding a used set

The Mizuno MP-4 ran from 2013 to 2014 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.

Data compiled from:
  • 2ndswing.com Mizuno MP-4 Iron Set product page, full loft/lie/length/offset/bounce spec table and shaft listings
  • TheHackersParadise.com Mizuno MP-4 iron review, reproducing Mizuno's published spec table
  • qsponge.com Mizuno MP-4 loft table (corroborating loft/lie/length/bounce/offset)
  • Note: the MP-4 was introduced in 2013, not 2014. Golfalot's first look (20 July 2013) says the iron is 'due out in September', and TheSandTrap's 15 November 2013 round-up already lists it at retail. The 2014 figure was the marketing model year. Corrected to 2013, and year_discontinued to 2014 to follow the MP-15's corrected date.
