About the New Level 702-CB
The 702-CB is the players cavity back of New Level's 702 series, the generation that replaced the 480 line — launch coverage ran in late January 2025, with the company comparing it directly to its own 480-TC, 623-CB and PF-2. Each head is forged in one piece from 1020 carbon steel and carries New Level's SPT (Strategically Placed Tungsten) plug in the toe, a roughly 20-gram weight that balances the centre of gravity behind the face and steadies toe strikes, while a shallow undercut cavity moves mass to the perimeter. Lofts are one degree stronger than the 623-CB it displaced — a 33-degree 7-iron and 45-degree pitching wedge over the 4-PW run — and all three 702 models share one ladder so they combine into combo sets. Sold direct and through fitters at about $150 a club, built to order from New Level's shaft menu in right- or left-handed, with no stock shaft or swing weight by design.

Frequently asked questions
What is the loft of a New Level 702-CB 7-iron?
The New Level 702-CB 7-iron has a loft of 33 degrees, a lie of 62 degrees and a length of 37 inches.
Can the 702-CB be mixed with the 702-MB and 702+?
Yes. All three 702 models share the same loft, lie and length ladder, so they combine into combo sets without bending — New Level designed the series around it.
What replaced the New Level 480-TC and 623-CB?
The 702-CB. New Level's own comparison chart names the PF-2, 623-CB and 480-TC as the previous models in its slot, with the 702-CB running one degree stronger lofts than the 623-CB.
What is SPT in New Level 702 irons?
Strategically Placed Tungsten — a roughly 20-gram tungsten plug in the toe that centres the balance of the head behind the strike and keeps ball speed up on toe hits.
Where it sits in the lineup
Introduced in 2025, the New Level 702-CB is a current players set in the New Level range as of October 2026, with no replacement announced. It replaced the New Level 480-TC. New sets are built to the standard lofts, lies and lengths in the chart above, though a fitting can move any of them — so confirm the numbers on the order sheet. Used sets appear on eBay, and should be measured against this chart before buying.
- newlevelgolf.com official 702 CB spec chart (the '702 Forged Irons' series-breakdown page, retrieved October 2026) — the manufacturer table used here: loft, lie, offset (2.8 mm down to 1.9 mm, converted to inches), bounce, length, .370 hosel bore, RH/LH, chrome finish, and the note that New Level has no stock configuration and therefore no stock swing weights
- Note: New Level's own chart lists the PW lie as 64.5 degrees — a 1.5-degree jump from the 9-iron's 63 — where 2nd Swing's listing shows 63.5; the manufacturer figure is used and the discrepancy flagged here
- GOLF.com 'New Level's new forged irons, fully equipped' (26 January 2025) — launch coverage dating the series' announcement; the chart assets on New Level's site were uploaded in December 2024, so retail announcement and first marketing straddle the 2024/2025 turn and 2025 is recorded
