About the Cleveland CG Black (2015)
The 2015 CG Black is the second generation of Cleveland's ultralight distance line, announced in the autumn of 2014 (at retail from 7 November 2014) and sold as the 2015 range alongside a matching driver, fairways and hybrids. The whole club is built light — sub-standard head weights, light shafts and grips and long assemblies, with the 4-iron at 39.5 inches — so moderate-speed players can generate more clubhead speed; lofts are strong through the middle of the set with a 30-degree 7-iron and 44-degree pitching wedge. Cleveland published the set 4-iron through sand wedge, with the 50-degree wedge labelled DW, in right and left hand. A more compact CG Black CB followed in February 2015. This record uses 2014 on the announcement-year convention; the line is usually catalogued as 2015.

Frequently asked questions
What is the loft of a Cleveland CG Black 7-iron?
The 2015 Cleveland CG Black 7-iron has a loft of 30 degrees, a lie of 62 degrees and a length of 37.25 inches.
What year are the Cleveland CG Black irons?
There are two generations: a 2012 original and this second-generation line, announced in autumn 2014 and sold as the 2015 CG Black range from 7 November 2014.
Why are the Cleveland CG Black irons built so long and light?
The entire club — head, shaft and grip — is lighter than standard and assembled longer (39.5 inches at the 4-iron), so golfers with moderate swing speeds can swing faster and gain distance without changing their swing.
Finding a used set
The Cleveland CG Black (2015) ran from 2014 to 2017 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.
