About the TaylorMade P770 (2023)

The 2023 P770 is the compact hollow body that sits between the P7MC blade-ish cavity and the P790 distance iron. Against the previous P770 it cuts offset in the long irons to suit a better player's eye, keeps the thin forged 4140 face over a Speed Pocket, and uses the FLTD CG progression so the centre of gravity is lowest in the long irons and rises into the scoring clubs. Lofts are two to three degrees weaker than the P790 through the set — 33 degrees at the 7-iron against 30.5. Figures are the men's standard right-handed steel build.

Finding a used set

The TaylorMade P770 (2023) ran from 2023 to 2024 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.

Data compiled from:
  • 2ndswing.com TaylorMade 2023 P770 Iron Set specification table — loft, lie, length, offset (in millimetres) and swing weight for the 3-iron through approach wedge, the 4-PW stock make-up, the KBS Tour stock shaft and the Golf Pride Z-Grip 360 grip. Offset is converted to inches here.
  • pluggedingolf.com '2023 TaylorMade P770 Irons Review' — confirms the 2023 launch, the forged hollow-body construction with a thin forged 4140 face, the reduced long-iron offset against the previous P770, and the FLTD CG progression.
  • Note: bounce was not published in the sources consulted and is omitted rather than estimated.
  • Succession: TaylorMade announced the next-generation P770 alongside the P7CB on 31 July 2024 (taylormadegolf.com press release, covered by Irish Golfer Magazine on 1 August 2024), marketed for the 2024/25 season, which is why year_discontinued reads 2024.
