About the PXG 0311 XP GEN5

XP stands for Xtreme Performance, and the 0311 XP is the largest head in PXG's GEN5 family — the widest sole, the most offset and by some way the strongest lofts, at 27 degrees for the 7-iron and 41 for the pitching wedge. It is also built long, 39.375 inches at the 4-iron against 38.875 for the P and T, and it carries the set down to a 47-degree gap wedge to keep the gapping usable underneath a 41-degree pitching wedge.

Frequently asked questions

What is the loft of a PXG 0311 XP GEN5 7-iron?

The PXG 0311 XP GEN5 7-iron has a loft of 27 degrees, a lie of 62.0 degrees and a length of 37.50 inches.

Are PXG 0311 XP lofts strong?

Yes — 27 degrees at the 7-iron and 41 at the pitching wedge, three degrees stronger than the 0311 P and a full five stronger than the 0311 T of the same generation.

Why is the PXG 0311 XP built longer than the P?

Half an inch longer at the 4-iron and half an inch at the 7-iron, to add clubhead speed for the mid-to-high handicap player the XP is aimed at.

What wedge lofts does the PXG 0311 XP GEN5 use?

A 41-degree pitching wedge and a 47-degree gap wedge, which is where the strong set lofts force the gapping.

Finding a used set

The PXG 0311 XP GEN5 ran from 2022 to 2023 and is no longer in production, so the used market is the only source. Search eBay, 2nd Swing, Golf Avenue and the PGA Tour Superstore trade-in listings, and check the loft and lie against the chart above before buying — sets this age have often been bent from standard.

Data compiled from:
  • 2ndswing.com PXG 0311 XP GEN5 Chrome Iron Set specification table — loft, lie, length, offset and bounce for the 4-iron through gap wedge.
  • pluggedingolf.com 'PXG 0311 XP GEN5 Irons Review' and mygolfspy.com 'PXG 0311 GEN5 Irons' — the XP as the largest head of the GEN5 family, aimed at mid to high handicap players.
  • Note: swing weight was not published in the source consulted and is omitted rather than estimated. PXG builds to order, so no single stock shaft is recorded.
